Terrific Tuesday

Filed under: Daily Grug - morton @ 3:14 am

Howdy Cowboys and Cowgirls,

No particular reason for the cowboy theme…I must say that I am proud of everyone, simply working away on their assignments. This week is a short week, lucky you; four day weekend (they are possible without suspension Brandon…). With only two days you have quite a bit to finish as there is a quiz on Wednesday, which I know you will all ace.

A. Your website must be up and running by now and you must make a link to your website on your blog, call it Website link. Basically your blog should have the following links or perhaps categories:
1. Project Proposal
2. Website Address
3. Daily News source
If you do not have these categories or links please insert them today.

B.You should take the next set of lessons, Working with Windows: http://www.jegsworks.com/Lessons/win/index.html

C. If you are finished all that you should begin to get that term project going, I have seen a few people starting to work on it and I will be giving periodic progress marks.

D. Pretty much everyone has finished the typing tests minus a few people; Taka, Riyo, Kelsey, Chizuru, Miho, and ??? MUST finish today!

Groove.

Marvelous Monday!

Filed under: Daily Grug - morton @ 5:41 pm

How was the weekend? I bet you have a few crazy stories to tell me…just make a comment and I will see it later. My weekend was jam packed with purchasing a new home and helping my finacee to gather all her bits and pieces from her old home…fun, fun, fun…work, work, work.

A. So. How many of you have actually given me their project proposal? This is your LAST CHANCE! Today, you must POST IT ON YOUR BLOG, even if you sent it to me by email! I want your blog to have a page that is linked to it that is specifically for your term project. This project is going to be big, I imagine it will take up to 20 hours of work at least.

B. Today is also the last day for everyone to finish up their typing tests. There are ten lessons to finish.

C. You should have started working on your website by now and perhaps today you could make a link to your website on your blog, call it Website link.

D. Finally, if you have managed to accomplish all this you should take the next set of lessons, Working with Windows, at http://www.jegsworks.com/Lessons/win/index.html
(there will be a quiz on these two sections on WEDNESDAY!!)

Alright, that’s great, let’s keep truckin’

T.G.I.F.

Yippee!! The weekend is here and I get to…oh ya…mark all your assignments, quizzes, essays…while you probably have no homework. Bill Gates said, “Rule # 1: Life is not fair,” he definitely meant for teachers not for students. Thank goodness I have a test for my grade nines on Monday, at least they’ll be studying (ever heard the song by SuperTramp called Dreamer?).

So, what are you supposed to do on this fine afternoon?

A. For an easy 10 marks you must write the correct response next to each error you made on the quiz. So you will have to go to www.jegsworks.com in order to find the correct answers. If there are not enough computers please PAIR UP!!

B. Hand in your TERM PROJECT PLAN, even if it is still a little up in the air (refer to yesterday’s blog for what you need to hand in).

C. Finish you typing lessons up to number 10 at www.goodtyping.com

D. Style up those webpages. According to Nick, www.freewebs.com allows for both the experienced and inexperienced to accomplish this feat: meaning you may use html code to build your site from scratch or you may use their supplied templates, which is what I did. I will, however, reward those students who are able to use html code as that is quite an achievement (one that I am still working on). And there is another cool site I found (this one is for you Robbin) that allows for your webpage and blog to be one site combined: check out www.squarespace.com. The website, at this point, is allowed to all about you and the things that you like, you choose the theme as long as it is reasonable (keep it clean Ashallee).

E. Today there is also the possibility of watching a FEATURE FILM directed by Mao Dun. This movie was made using Windows Movie Maker, yes a simple program, but there are entertaining moments…is anyone interested?

F. Finally, did you make suggestions on what I could have done to make my website better, in terms of being hireable, it was intended to get me employed.
