5 classes left.

Filed under: Daily Grug - morton @ 5:17 pm

Yesterday so many people were absent that we could not have our final Oscar nominations. Hopefully today there will be a few more commercial reviews.

What next? Game making!! Yes, it’s true, you have the right to be “gaming” as long as it is something you have created. I hope to play some of these games on Monday so please use your time wisely. I know there is not a lot of time but I managed to make 3 settings, a fight, and a few weird events in one hour.

I’ll say it again: Go to: my computer> apps on ‘ntserver’(p:)>rpg maker>RPGMaker 2000 1.07b>RPGMaker 2000 RTP>RPGMaker 2000 RTP 1.32 English Add-On…load all of these into your U:drive then click on rpg2000 (not rpgicon) and begin to learn how it works by hitting the help button in the top right of the screen to teach yourself about game making.

Note: Some people are choosing to use game maker instead of rpg 2000, but game maker is not on our computers so it must be downloaded into your u-drive.

Big Note: Once this course is the computer technician will be cleaning out your u-drives of all music, games, and other things that look suspect, so please burn what you want onto a disk before Friday.

Don’t waste time.

The Beginning of the End

Filed under: Daily Grug - morton @ 7:19 pm

This is it, the week you have been waiting for, the final week. Instead of having you take on a very lengthly online tutorial about the insides of a computer I have decided to finish the course with a bang. You will have five days to design your own computer game using rpg 2000. On Monday, our last day of class we will challenge each other to win our games.

Go to: my computer> apps on ‘ntserver’(p:)>rpg maker>RPGMaker 2000 1.07b>RPGMaker 2000 RTP>RPGMaker 2000 RTP 1.32 English Add-On…load all of these into your U:drive then click on rpg2000 (not rpgicon) and begin to learn how it works by hitting the help button in the top right of the screen to teach yourself about game making.

There will be marks for this final project, so no slacking off, that means no other games should be on your screens, only rpg 2000.

Change of Plans…

Filed under: Daily Grug - morton @ 4:46 pm

There are a few more commercials to watch then….

[This is what you were going to do: http://www.kidsdomain.com/brain/computer/lesson.html
I have the 22 worksheets, as long as I see you have gone over the lesson on the net you can get a worksheet.]

…..HOWEVER, I have been inspired to allow you 5 DAYS, yes 5 days only, to create an exciting and original video game!!! Which must be completed next Friday so that it can be played on Monday (the final class of the year).

BUT today, class will be cut short…at exactly 2:10 pm we will be going to the gym to watch our boys light up the scoreboards!!!! GO FALCONS!!!

Remember positive cheers for our team and absolutely no jeers for the visitors, show da respect.

Thursday Action….

Filed under: Daily Grug - morton @ 3:08 pm

Let’s see these masterful creations! Everyone gather round the front of the class and we will run through these via the projector. Unfortunately only a handful of dedicated workers finished on time (yes, bonus marks for that accomplishment). The rest of you will have to show it on FRIDAY or else you will face mark penalties.

Secret Ballots will determine this year’s Golden DVD winners!!

Once the commercials are finished it is time to get into the computer, so go to:

http://www.kidsdomain.com/brain/computer/lesson.html

(or click on the link to the right “Inside the Computer”)

We will be working through these ten lessons. Each lesson has a worksheet or two which you should complete (some of these will be extremely basic, be warned). Get a photocopy of each worksheet from me, BUT not before you have completed the lesson on the net.

There are 22 worksheets in total and I do want them hand completed, not typed on the computer. I will be using these as your final assessment for the year, that way there is no final exam in this course.

Any Questions?

Work it Wednesday.

Is your product worth a million? Is your commercial going to sell it?

The only people who will not be finishing up today are the Grade 10s, the rest of you must have your Commercial ready for viewing by the end of class.

THERE ARE PRIZES TO BE WON FOR THE TOP DIRECTORS!!!

Once it is finished you must choose to save the movie. In the movie maker program go to Movie Tasks, Finish Movie, and select save it to my computer (your u-drive) as a windows media player file.

Cut.
